BSI as a member of CEN is obliged to publish EN 15614-1:2017A1:2019 as a British Standard.However attention is drawn to the fact that during the development of this standard the UK mittee voted against its approval. The UK mittee is concerned that the format of this standard may cause a problem when working to either of the two welding procedure test levels.Level 1 is based on the requirements of ASME BPVC Section IX Welding Brazing and Fusing Qualifications and Level 2 for which the extent of testing is greater is based on the previous version of this standard;BS EN ISO 15614-1:2004A2:2012.It is important to note that a procedure test carried out to Level 2 automatically qualifies for Level 1 requirements but not vice-versa.Furthermore when no level is specified in a contract or application standard all the requirements of Level 2 should be applied.
