Attention is also drawn to the fact that annex C of this standard details two methods for predicting preheat temperatures to avoid hydrogen cracking.The differences in origin and experience used to develop these two methods are detailed in C.1 and this can be used as a guide to their application. Traditionally in the UK the method detailed in BS 5135 has been used in conjunction with weld procedure approval in accordance with the BS EN 288 series.The method detailed in C.2 is that given in BS 5135 in an updated form.
