1) The Intemational Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization prising
all national electrotechnical mittees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote intemational co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end andPublicly Available Specifications (PAS)and Guides (hereafter referred to as *IEC Publication(s)). Theirmay participate in this preparatory work. International. govemmental and non-govermmental organizations liaisingStandardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the two organizations. with the IECalsoparticipatein this preparation.IECcollaborates closely with theIntemationalOrganization for2)The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters expressas nearly as possible anintemational3) IEC Publications have the form of remendations for intemational use and are accepted by IEC National interested IEC National Committees.Commitees in that sense. IEC 60335-2-23 has been prepared by IEC technical mitte 61: Safety of household and similar electrical appliances. It is an International Standard.
This seventh edition cancels and replaces the sixth edition published in 2016 andAmend ment 1:2019. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previousedition:
a) alignment with IEC 60335-1:2020;b) conversion of some notes to normative text (Clause 1 11.101 20.1):c) change in standard title and relocation of skin care appliances such as facial saunas and foot care appliances to IEC 60335-2-115 (Clause 1 3.1.9 3.5.103 6.1 7.12 8.1.4 11.8 15.2 21.1);d) clarification of testing of appliances with PTC heating elements (10.1 10.2);
