Based on this project,the authors briefly introduce the principle of top-down construction method for steel tube columns and summarize the construction points in detail. This included the construction process, steel tube column assembly, inclinometer tube installation, pile foundation opening,reinforcing cage positioning, steel support installation and steel tube column hoisting as well as elevation adjustment, axis control, verticality detection and adjustment for the steel tube columns. The engineering practice shows that the verticality of steel tube columns can meet the design requirements. The construction quality and progress also satisfied the design requirements.
