Announcement of Publishing the National Standard of "Codefor Construction and Acceptance ofWater and Sewerage Pipeline Works" “Code for Construction and Acceptance of Water and Sewerage Pipeline Works”" has been approved as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50268 2008, and will be implemented on May 1,2009. Therein Articles 1. 0.3, 3. 1. 9,3. 1. 15, 3. 2. 8, 9. 1. 10 and 9. 1. 11 are pulsory provisions and must be enforced strictly. The origi- nal “Code for Construction and Acceptance of Water and Sewerage Pipeline Works” GB 50268-97 and “Standard for Quality Inspection of Urban Drainage Pipe and Channel Work" CJJ 3-90 shall be abolished simultaneously. Authorized by the Research Institute of Standards and Norms-Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, this Code is published and distributed by China Archi- tecture &. Building Press.

Foreword
According to the requirement of Document JIAN BIAO [2004] No. 67 issued by Ministry of Construction-“Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan of National Engineering Construction Standards in 2004", this Code is revised on the basis of “Code for Construction and Acceptance of Water and Sewerage Pipeline Works” GB 50268-97 by Beijing Municipal Engineering Group Co. , Ltd. with all relevant organi- zations together. In the revision process, the drafting group made in-depth investigation and study and special seminar, summarized practical experience on pipeline works construction and quality acceptance for water and sewerage in all parts of China, adhered on guidelines of acceptance-assessment separation，intensified acceptance，perfect means and process control”, referred to relevant codes from home and abroad, and solicited for opinions widely from organizations all concerned in multiple ways, and finally finalized the revi- sion by examination The main contents of this Code are as follows: general provisions, terms, basic re- quirements, earthwork and foundation treatment, major structure of pipeline for trench installation,major structure of pipeline for trenchless installation, major structure of immersed pipeline and bridging pipeline construction, subsidiary struetures of pipeline, function test and Appendix of pipeline. The provisions printed in bold type are pulsory ones and must be enforced strictly. Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administra- tion and the explanation of the pulsory provisions for this Code and Beijing Munici- pal Engineering Group Co. , Ltd. is in charge of the explanation of the specific technical contents. For the purpose of improving the Code quality, all relevant organizations are kindly requested to sum up and accumulate your experiences in actual practices during the process of implementing this Code.
