This BritishStandard hasbeen prepared under the direction of the TechnicalSeetor Board forBuilding and Civil Enginecring.It s theEnglish language versionofEN196-7:1989Methods of testing cement;Methods of taking andStandardization (CEN).EN 196-7was drawn up by Technieal Committee 51 preparing samplesof cementpublished by the European Committee forCementandbuidinglmesasPartofaseriesontestingmentwhichwas accepted by CENon3October 1989.The UKgave a positive vote at the finalvotingstageandthustheEuropeantestrocedurehasbeenintroducedintothe 1991revisions ofBritish Standars for cement BS 12 BS 146 BS 4027 BS 4246 BS 6588 and BS 6610. This British Standard supersedes BS 4550 :Part 1 which is withdrawn.
The European Standard includes important definitions relating to the varioustypesofsmples sociatedwiththeassesment ofthe quality ofcements and prwides details of how these samples are required to be taken.
The European Standard also covers the preparation and sorge of labratorysamples forsutsequent testingRepresentative samplesfor thevarious tests qop ds jo su puo paba ququartering.
A suitable form for the sampling report specified in clause 10 is given in national annex NA.
