INTRODUCTION
The International Organization for Standardization (ISo) has released the most recent version of theISO/IEC 17025 standard-the 2017 edition. The development of this standard became necessary asit is geared towards achieving the goal and purpose of promoting_ confidence accuracy and trustworthiness in the operation of testing and calibration laboratories. The ISO/IEC 17025 standardcontains general requirements for the petence of testing and calibration laboratories which helpthem increase the effectiveness of their activities.
The ISO/IEC 17025 standard helps laboratories to provide reliable data and technically valid resultsto their customers so as to be deemed petent. It is important to mention that this standard isbodies. It also helps to promote continual improvement of data quality and laboratory effectiveness. centers and others and can be used by inspection bodies and/or other conformity assessment
After the implementation of the revised international standard the laboratory will be able todemonstrate that it operates within the new framework using the recent technology and ITline with new ISO formatting guidelines. The standard takes into consideration the latest version ofthe ISO 9001 standard so as to facilitate the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 in laboratories thathave already met the requirements of ISO 9001.
Adopting the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 like other conformity assessment standards such asISO/IEC 17043 ISO/IEC 17020 ISO/IEC 17021-1 ISO/IEC 17065 etc. will not only promotepetence but will also reduce undesired impacts and potential failures in the laboratory activities.
