to as the Specificarion) is intended to cover mon design criteria. This standard Seismic The Specificarion for Strucfaraf SteeI Buildings (ANSI/AISC 360-22) (hereafter referredProvisions for Strucfaraf Steel Barildings (ANSI/AISC 341-22) (hereafter referred to as theseProvisions) is a separate consensus standard to be used in conjunction with the Specification that addresses the design and construction of structural steel and posite steel-concretebuilding systems specifically detailed for seismic resistance.
This standard adopts Prequalified Connections for Special cnd Intermediate Steel MomentFrames for Seismic Applications (ANSI/AISC 358-22) by reference. ANSI/AISC 358 speci- fies design detailing fabrication and quality criteria for connections that are prequalifiedin accordance with these Provisions for use with special and intermediate moment frames. While these Provisions are modified every five or six years ANSI/AISC 358 may be pro-cessed more frequently and newer editions of ANSI/AISC 358 may be recognized andenforced by the applicable building code.
Design Loads and Associcated Criteria for Buildings aned Otier Stractares (ASCE/SEI 7-22). These Provisions were being developed in the same time frame as a revision of MinimunASCE/SEI 7-22 is to be used concurrently with this standard for a fully coordinated package.
These Provisions are the result of the consensus deliberations of a mittee of structuralgraphical distribution throughout the United States. The mittee includes approximately engineers with wide experience and high professional standing representing a wide geo-research and teaching and engineers employed by steel fabricating and producing pa- equal numbers of engineers in private practice and code agencies engineers involved innies. The contributions and assistance of more than 50 additional professional volunteersworking in task mittees are also hereby acknowledged.
The Symbols Glossary Abbreviations and Appendix are all considered part of this docu- ment. Acpanying these Provisions is a nonmandatory Commentary with backgroundinformation and nonmandatory user notes interspersed throughout to provide guidance on
of the Provisions including the following: A number of significant technical modifications have also been made since the 2016 edition
