PREFACE
The objective of this Companion is to provide additional design tables beyond what are incorporated into the 16th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual.
Tables in this Companion that present available strengths are developed using the geometric conditions indicatedGiven the nature of the tables and the posible governing limit state for each table value linear interpolation and applicable limits states from the 2022 AISC Specificarion for Structural Steel Buildings (ANSI/AISC 360-22).between tabulated values may or may not provide correct strengths.
Tables are arranged with LRFD and ASD designs presented side-by-side for consistency with the AISC Mamual.Design with ASD and LRFD are based on the same nominal strength for each element so that the only differences between the approaches are the set of load binations from ASCE/SEI 7-22 used for design and whether theresistance factor for LRFD or the safety factor for ASD is used.
