During the construction of the large-scale steel structure, corbels were added on steel columns and extra steel beams were set up between columns to support the rails for the tower crane so that the tower crane can walk inside the structure to finish the hoisting job.This technology can solve the problems of lifting large structural elements from the inside of a large steel project. This paper analyzes the mechanical behaviour of the walking tower crane, indicates the key points to control during the construction. The economical efficiency of the walking tower crane construction is also analyzed.The results show that the construction technology with walking tower crane was properly designed and generated obvious economic benefits.
